Hi Friends.
Back-to-school vibes here, meaning it’s 99 degrees, the pool has closed, and I’m writing to you under the crushing weight of a 3000+ urgent-please-read-important-student-update email pile.
If you, like me, are … oh, I don’t know … just the slightest bit overwhelmed by the head-on collision of ALL THE SCHOOL THINGS with ALL THE FALL SPORTS THINGS (not to mention the side-of-the-road brush fire of ALL THE WORK/HOME/PERSONAL THINGS) then you’re in the right place.
Ergo, a short summer re-cap in pictures along with some memes:
Saw Taylor. (Backstory here.) As of June 2023, am officially a Swiftie.
Celebrated Quattro Cinco with friends I’ve known since grade school. The best.
Spent ALL THE TIME at the pool. Literally. ALL the time. (N center, in black.)
Crossed off a few of the kids’ “Bucket List” items. (Crossed off zero of mine: get contacts, paint the living room, write for more than 3 minutes.)
Went to the beach. (Didn’t take ONE family picture!)
Read Demon Copperhead (potentially one of the best books ever), Lessons in Chemistry (wasn’t as over-the-moon as everyone else was about this book), A Heart that Works (because death memoirs are honestly my favorite genre), You Could Make This Place Beautiful (gorgeous), It.Goes.So.Fast. (with N starting senior year, this hit too close to home) and Strong Like Water (therapy in paperback!).
Apparently, staying off social media helps you read more!
Loved this sunscreen, this podcast, this and this salad.
Am seriously considering a tattoo. Pros? Cons? Am I too old?
To Round Us Out…
Until next time. May your calendar be color-coded and your carpool schedule uncomplicated.
staying off social media = reading more... wise words, thanks for the reminder (and book recs!)
A Heart That Works gutted me! I rewatched some of Catastrophe after reading Rob’s book.
Also...I’m 99% sure I’m getting a nose piercing before Chicago. I almost put it out on the group chat to see if anyone would want to go to a tattoo/piercing parlor with me. 😆
